Psalm 89:1-8

I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.'” Selah

Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD, a God feared in the council of the holy ones, great and awesome above all that are around him? O LORD God of hosts, who is as mighty as you, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds you.

How quickly things change in our technological world.  If you received a computer for Christmas last year, it is now virtually obsolete, or so it seems.  Moore’s Law postulates that overall processing in computers doubles every 18 months-2 years.  And when that happens, it creates a domino effect whereby related components necessarily change as well.  The result is just when you get used to your “new” computer, upgrades are required or newer, faster software may not run on your machine.

In a time when things can change so quickly, it is comforting to know that one thing never changes – God’s  steadfast love and faithfulness.  He made a covenant with Israel that through the lineage of David, a king would come who would reign forever.  Although there were some bumps in the road along the way, and Israel may have thought God forgot about them, God maintained His steadfast love to Israel, and to all of us, when Jesus, His Son and our Savior, was born on that first Christmas day.

O God, we rejoice with the angels

and praise your faithfulness and steadfast love to all mankind!
