Mar. 9 – Saturday                                    Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

      Julia H. Johnston wrote the words to “Grace Greater Than All Our Sins.”  I dearly love the chorus:

Grace, grace, God’s grace,

Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;

Grace, grace, God’s grace,

Grace that is greater than all our sin!

Today’s scripture reminds us of the wonderful grace of Jesus.  Through Christ we are reconciled with God and we are commissioned “ambassadors” of God’s grace to this hurting world.

In this world where everything is under constant review and judgment, we can know that Christ does not count our sins against us, that we can rejoice in that wonderful grace.

This Lenten season let’s take some time and marvel in that grace.  Then let’s take some time to see how we can bestow that grace on this hurting world.  And finally, let’s go out and be Christ’s ambassadors, bestowing that grace to others.

May we who have received so freely from you

share freely with the world, O gracious God our Savior!
